President Extends Declaration on Colombian Narcotics Trafficking

National emergency has continued since 1995.

President Trump sent notice to Congress and published to the National Registrar on Monday the extension of the National Emergency regarding narcotics trafficking centered in Colombia. The original executive order was issued in October of 1995, under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act.

The order states that significant danger exists to the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States due to the violence, corruption, and harm caused by the actions of narcotics traffickers. The extension of the emergency measures is good for one year.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For President Trump as he works to protect the U.S. from drug trafficking.
  • That the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Customs and Border Protection would succeed in stemming the tide of illicit substances into the nation.
