HHS and Heartland Forward are expected to work together to share information and align their strategies to improve the care women receive before, during, and after pregnancy.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced a new Memorandum of Understanding with Heartland Forward to help improve care for women and families and advance maternal health outcomes in the United States. The new partnership supports a shared goal of making the U.S. one of the safest places in the world to have a baby.
HHS explained that the partnership intends to “expand the HHS Perinatal Improvement Collaborative to assess care and outcomes across the full maternal and child health continuum, leverage hospital networks and data systems to identify pregnancy-related risks and improve outcomes,“ and “collect and analyze linked data on maternal and infant morbidity and mortality to inform quality improvement efforts.“
The federal health department stated, “The collaboration will support the expansion of the HHS Perinatal Improvement Collaborative (HHS PIC), a nationwide network of hospitals and healthcare teams working to improve maternal and infant health outcomes through measurable, evidence-based practices. Currently spanning more than 220 hospitals, the initiative will broaden its reach to address the full continuum of maternal and child health.“
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Kennedy to seek the Lord’s direction as he oversees the effort to improve pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum care.
- For HHS officials as they work with Heartland Forward to strengthen care for mothers in the U.S.
- For women in need of maternal care to access available assistance.
