The programs support economic development, workforce needs, and technology access in rural communities.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development announced that applications are open for Rural Business Development Grants (RBDG) and Distance Learning and Telemedicine Grants (DLT). The programs support rural economic development, job creation, telecommunications access, and services for institutions such as schools, hospitals, and community organizations.
The USDA stated, “The purpose of the Rural Business Development Grants program is to promote economic development and job creation projects through the awarding of grant funds to eligible entities.“
The department also explained, “The Distance Learning and Telemedicine Grant program helps rural communities use advanced telecommunications technology to connect to each other – and the world – overcoming the effects of remoteness and low population density.“
Strategic Economic and Community Development applications are due by June 15. All other applications will be accepted through the end of June.
