Secretary Hegseth Announces Changes in Defense Contract Negotiations

He says the Pentagon will move at the speed of business rather than bureaucracy.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated that the Pentagon is updating the way it handles defense contracts. The department will be using a group of businessmen for negotiations with contractors to reduce inefficiencies and waste in the military production process.

Secretary Hegseth outlined a “broken” Pentagon bureaucracy that allowed cost overruns and delays in weapons procurement. He highlighted the cost to taxpayers of “doing the same thing for decades.”

“We’re not tolerating delays in production or cost overruns anymore,” said Secretary Hegseth. “We’ve pushed out the bureaucrats who’ve made these deals in the past and replaced them with the most talented negotiators in the private sector, a group of businessmen so elite, they’ve been rightly dubbed Deal Team Six. It’s simple. We’re putting the American taxpayer first by offering you a better deal.”

“We now move at the speed of business, not bureaucracy,” he continued. “Now when a defense company expands its production to sell more equipment to the U.S. military, they pay the bill. They pay for new factories, assembly lines, manufacturing plants, not the taxpayer.”

The secretary added, “Should these companies fail to deliver, we will hold them accountable and bring in new companies who will. Speed, volume, and fiscal responsibility. It’s common sense and it’s what the American taxpayer demands.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Hegseth to seek the Lord’s guidance as he oversees the Pentagon and national defense.
  • For U.S. military officials as they transition to a business rather than bureaucratic model for equipment production.
