Governor Walz commends the joint investigation.
Agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Department of Homeland Security executed nearly two dozen search warrants on businesses in Minnesota on Tuesday related to the welfare fraud investigation. The entities had registered with the state as daycare facilities but were allegedly submitting Medicaid reimbursement claims for child care that was not being provided.
A Department of Justice (DOJ) spokesperson stated, “The FBI, with federal, state and local law enforcement is involved in court-authorized law enforcement activity as part of an ongoing fraud investigation.”
Vice President JD Vance, who President Trump put in charge of the anti-fraud task force, stated, “The task force and the DOJ will be relentless in exposing these fraudsters wherever they may be hiding.”
The raids had no connection to immigration enforcement.
“If you commit fraud in Minnesota you’re going to get caught,” Governor Tim Walz stated. “We catch criminals when state and federal agencies share information. Joint investigations work, and securing justice depends on it.”
