A Secret Service agent was injured, but all guests were safely evacuated
Late Saturday evening, President Donald Trump and other government leaders were safely evacuated from the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner in Washington, D.C., following a security incident involving gunfire near a screening area.
Guests took cover under tables as Secret Service officers entered the dining room, and law enforcement officials reported that one suspect was taken into custody. During the incident, a U.S. Secret Service agent was wounded at close range but was protected from fatal injury by his ballistic vest. The President later shared that he personally spoke with the injured agent and was encouraged to learn the officer is in “great shape” and in “very high spirits.”
President Trump confirmed that he was unharmed and returned safely to the White House. Event organizers announced the dinner will be rescheduled, and federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies are coordinating fully as the investigation continues.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For healing, strength, and a full recovery for the injured Secret Service agent.
- For President Trump, the First Lady, and others who were in attendance, that they would experience peace and comfort following this incident, with gratitude for God’s protection.
- For the Secret Service and local law enforcement as they continue their investigation.
