The funding supports the repair and replacement of 119 bridges across multiple states.
The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) recently announced nearly $408 million in funding to support bridge repair and replacement projects in rural communities across 12 states. The funding, distributed through the Competitive Highway Bridge Program, will support 119 bridges, with several states receiving significant funding for bundled infrastructure projects, including Iowa, Maine, South Dakota, and West Virginia.
“These bridges will ensure smaller communities have the reliable bridges they need to fuel our economy and connect American families to schools, offices, and hospitals,” said Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy.
“Funding for these projects will build and repair 119 bridges—saving time, money, and revitalizing key routes for the movement of commerce,” said FHWA Administrator Sean McMaster
The funding is intended to address aging infrastructure and improve safety and connection between communities, workplaces, and essential services in less densely populated areas.
