Chris Wright
Secretary of Energy
Christopher Allen Wright was born in January 1965. He earned an undergraduate degree and a master’s in engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He also attended the University of California at Berkeley as a graduate student.
In 1992, Wright founded a company involved in fracking, Pinnacle Technologies, and served as its CEO for 14 years. He was also chairman of another shale gas production company, Stroud Energy. He founded Liberty Energy in 2011 which expanded the production of oil and gas through fracking, serving as its chairman and CEO. He also sat on the board of directors for a company that designs small fast-neutron reactors and of a corporation that pays royalties for mineral and mining rights.
President Donald Trump nominated Wright to be Secretary of Energy. He was confirmed by the Senate and sworn in on February 3, 2025.
He is married to Liz and they have a family.

Secretary of Energy Chris Wright said that peak gasoline prices will probably be reached in the next few weeks.
Secretary Wright explained at a Semafor World Economy event in Washington, D.C., “We’re going to see energy prices high and maybe even rising until we get… meaningful ship traffic through the Straits of Hormuz. That’ll probably hit the peak oil price at that time. That’s probably sometime in the next few weeks.”
Secretary Wright said that whether or not fuel prices rise before they begin to decrease depends on “how the conflict goes, but it’s a very real possibility.”
