In the News…
U.S. Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina recently reintroduced the Supporting Pregnant and Parenting Women and Families Act. The legislation, co-sponsored by Senator John Cornyn of Texas, would redirect funding that formerly covered abortion procedures to pregnancy centers that provide support to women and families.
“Supporting women means ensuring they have real resources, real care, and real options,” Senator Scott said. He said the bill will offer “guidance, support, and critical services, so no mother faces pregnancy or parenthood alone.”
The legislation describes the pregnancy centers as organizations that “support protecting the life of the mother and unborn child.” Representative Michelle Fischbach of Minnesota introduced a companion bill in the House, which passed in January.
