Issue 738 – National Prayer Needs

Additional National Prayer Needs

Pray for America’s Military

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced that, as of the 2026-2027 school year, the Pentagon will end its academic partnership with Harvard University. Secretary Hegseth said that, while military personnel currently at the school will be allowed to complete their courses of study, attendance at the school no longer meets the needs of the War Department or the military services. The defense secretary said his department will be evaluating its relationship with other institutions of higher education “to determine whether or not they actually deliver cost-effective strategic education for future senior leaders.”

Pray for the president and defense secretary as they determine the most beneficial options for preparing future military leaders.

Pray for America’s Foreign Relations

Vice President Vance visited Armenia and Azerbaijan this week. He signed a civil nuclear energy agreement with Armenia and also committed to the sale of U.S. drone technology. The vice president met with officials from both nations to continue the peace efforts begun last August under President Trump’s negotiations.

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel said that he is willing to begin negotiating with the United States, as long as the discussions take place without pressure or conditions. The Cuban president highlighted migration, regional security, combatting drug trafficking and terrorism, as well as scientific, academic, and cultural exchanges as areas for discussion. Cuba is experiencing energy challenges now that the nation is no longer receiving Venezuelan oil.

Pray for U.S. and Israeli officials to be prudent as many nations apply pressure to recognize a Palestinian state.

Pray for AMERICA’S HEALTH AND WELL-BEING

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is updating the requirement for foods labeled “no artificial colors” to exclude food coloring from natural sources. Only added colorants from artificial petroleum-based colors will be required for the label under the new guidance. “We acknowledge that calling colors derived from natural sources ‘artificial’ might be confusing for consumers and a hindrance for companies to explore alternative food coloring options,” said FDA Commissioner Marty Makary. “We’re taking away that hindrance and making it easier for companies to use these colors in the foods our families eat every day.”

Pray for Commissioner Makary and FDA officials and researchers as they assess and update guidance for healthier processed foods.

Pray for Needs Across the States

The Baltimore City Health Department is being investigated by the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division after evidence surfaced that taxpayer dollars were used between 2022 and 2024 to segregate employees for racial equity meetings. Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon stated, “Separating employees into training groups based on their race is discriminatory, illegal, and un-American. Such practices are divisive and foster a racially hostile work environment. Racial segregation of employees is deeply offensive to the American guarantee of equal rights under the law, and it will not be tolerated.”

Hawaii’s law criminalizing the distribution of political satire, signed by Governor Josh Green in 2024, has been permanently enjoined by a federal judge as unconstitutional. The legal challenge to the state law was brought by satirists, who said the law sought to “treat comedy like a crime.” Content creators would have had to issue print or audio disclaimers with published content to avoid prosecution. A similar law in California will not be enforced, according to the state’s attorney general.

Pray for state and city officials across the nation to adhere to and uphold constitutional freedoms of speech and association.

Pray for America’s Faith Community

“When Abigail sensed danger, no one had to tell her it was time to move swiftly (1 Samuel 25). Wisdom doesn’t mean you always move slowly. She hurried and put that meal together. She acted without hesitation when the moment called for it. And when she saw murder in David’s eyes, she spoke courageously.
The Spirit of God never acts rashly. Sometimes quickly, but never rashly. He never leads us to do anything rash. Those promptings come from the flesh.
Abigail was saying to David, ‘I’ve heard of your anointing. You will be the king, and you will rule over our land. You’re bigger than that, David. Don’t fight your own battles. The battle is the Lord’s. I heard you say that when you faced Goliath. This is your moment, David.‘
When the things that touch the heart of God move God, they also touch the heart of David, and they move David. The things that soften, encourage, and strengthen David are things that please God. David senses the reproof from the lips of this lovely woman who has bowed herself before him, and he says, ‘Blessed are you.‘” – Chuck Swindoll, Insight for Living, February 2026
