Administration Provides Oversight on Changes to Venezuelan Oil Industry

The interim president signed a law opening up privatization as the U.S. secretary of state testifies on the administration’s intentions before the Senate.

President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with interim Venezuelan President Delcy Rodriguez after she signed a law allowing privatization in her nation’s oil industry. The law also allows independent arbitration rather than requiring disputes to be settled by Venezuelan courts.

President Trump held a meeting at the White House earlier this month to discuss investments with top oil and gas executives that would rebuild Venezuela’s decrepit oil infrastructure and increase production.

Secretary Rubio testified before the Senate this week, stating, “What we hope to do is transition to a mechanism that allows that to be sold in a normal way, a normal oil industry, not one dominated by cronies, not one dominated by graft and corruption.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For President Trump and Secretary Rubio as they facilitate changes to the oil industry in Venezuela.
  • For U.S. officials to be discerning as they oversee economic opportunities in Venezuela.
