Issue 737 – National Prayer Needs

Additional National Prayer Needs

Pray for America’s Military

Defense Press Secretary Sean Parnell stated that the Pentagon is monitoring a Virginia state bill that could potentially revoke state funding for the Virginia Military Institute (VMI). “For generations, the unique military environment at VMI has made the institute a vital source of commissioned officers for the Armed Forces,” he said. “The stability of this proven leadership pipeline is a matter of direct national security interest and any action that could disrupt the ecosystem requires our full attention.” He said the Pentagon is prepared to take “extraordinary measures” to protect the institution.

Pray for the president, defense secretary, and joint chiefs as they assess the ecosystem and readiness of the U.S. military.

Pray for America’s Foreign Relations

President Trump met with President Gustavo Petro of Colombia this week at the White House. The Colombian president reportedly gave President Trump a list of names of the “kingpins” of drug trafficking, and expressed his commitment to addressing it, though his nation has been the largest producer of cocaine. President Petro recommended adding an “S” to the MAGA hat, signed and given to him by President Trump, so it read “Make America[s] Great Again.”

The Supreme Court of Panama determined that two 25-year concessions held by Hong Kong-based Panama Ports Company were unconstitutional last week. The company had ports at both ends of the Panama Canal. One of President Trump’s priorities has been to eliminate the Chinese Communist Party’s control over the vital shipping route. During the transition to end China’s presence on the canal, the large Danish company A.P. Moller-Maersk will temporarily operate the ports.

Pray for the president and U.S. officials as they seek to protect America’s interests as they collaborate on global security and trade.

Pray for AMERICA’S HEALTH AND WELL-BEING

A young woman, who previously identified as transgender, won a medical malpractice suit against a surgeon and psychologist in Westchester, New York, this week. It is the first successful lawsuit in the nation brought by a detransitioner, who had a double mastectomy at the age of 16. Several states have passed or are considering laws to protect minors from sex-rejecting medications and other physiological and biological-altering interventions.

Pray for U.S. health officials to protect the physical health of minors as they evaluate mental health support for youth struggling with gender dysphoria.

Pray for Needs Across the States

An Oklahoma representative pleaded guilty to felonies under the Oklahoma Computer Crimes Act after the Oklahoma Ethics Commission conducted an investigation into the state legislator’s activities. She resigned from the state legislature as part of her sentence for the misuse of campaign funds, conspiracy, and forgery. State Attorney General Gentner Drummond said, “Public officials hold a sacred trust with the people they serve. When that trust is violated for personal gain, it strikes at the very heart of our institutions.”

A Virginia judge has blocked the State Legislature’s proposed amendment to the Virginia Constitution that would redraw the congressional districts for a failure to follow state law for amendments. The judge found that the House of Delegates did not hold the required first vote before the 2025 election season had begun.

Pray for governors, state attorneys general, and judges as they seek to uphold the law and determine congressional district apportionments.

Pray for America’s Faith Community

“Despite many technological advancements, the twenty-first century has entered frighteningly dark waters. Look at the headlines — the threat of global terrorism, the chaos of unthinkable criminal activity, the defilement of pornography, the confusion of gender roles, the future of the economy, the ‘lostness‘ of our children, etc., etc. People are helplessly buckled up, strapped in, and holding on to a world careening out of control into a future of even greater fear, confusion, frustration, uncertainty, and isolation.
As a Christian, a true Christian, you are quite a contrast. Anchored in Jesus Christ, you are immoveable, steadfast, and strong. Your eyes are fixed on the Word of God, a beacon that stands out like a ‘lamp shining in a dark place‘ (2 Peter 1:19). As you move toward that light, God changes your life by the power of the Holy Spirit. The message you proclaim and the life you live guarantees you will stand out in the culture.
Holy, righteous lives are the backbone of the gospel we preach. … The central issue in evangelism is holy living. A powerful church is not built on its strategy, but on the virtue and holiness of its people.“ – John MacArthur, Grace to You
