New initiative aims to modernize systems and expand technical capacity
The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) recently announced the creation of the United States Tech Force (Tech Force), a cross-agency effort designed to recruit experienced technologists into federal service.
“Tech Force is America’s elite corps for the AI revolution, mobilizing the nation’s best minds to lead on digital frontlines, defend our global edge and secure our future in technological leadership,” Federal CIO Gregory Barbaccia said. “It is a call to service for our nation’s best technologists to join a mission-critical corps that will ensure our competitiveness, modernize our government infrastructure and lead the world in innovation from education to medicine.”
Developed in coordination with the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), the General Services Administration (GSA), the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), and other agencies, the program seeks engineers, data scientists, and technology leaders to work on large-scale modernization projects across the federal government to address challenges in areas such as artificial intelligence, data systems, and digital infrastructure.
Officials said the initiative is intended to strengthen long-term government capacity by closing technical skill gaps and improving public-sector technology performance.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For CIO Barbaccia as he engages with federal agencies to modernize critical technology systems.
- For Director Kratsios as he oversees the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.
- For the U.S. technologists who will join the task force to serve with efficiency, integrity, and honesty.
