Reruns and Renewals

“We have the mind of Christ.” – 1 Corinthians 2:16

Where do your thoughts come from?  That age-old question is the essence of every philosophy and religion known to man.  An interesting study from Michigan State University reports 80-90 percent of all your thoughts are reruns. You have had that thought before, and the more you think it, the more likely you will think it again!

Having the mind of Christ is a beautiful promise for God’s people.  As Jesus laid down His earthly life to be raised up again in eternal newness, He offers the same hope for those stuck in the tyranny of unhealthy thinking patterns. The same Holy Spirit giving Jesus power over death is available today for renewing minds.

Scripture exhorts you to take every thought captive putting it under the obedience of Christ. Recognizing you can choose what you think, turning off the reruns, is the first step in experiencing real life transformation. Training your mind to know the character of God through the words of Scripture gives you a new thinking option when old messages present themselves. Saturating your mind with God’s word is medicine for your brain.

Today, think about your thinking—is it based upon the truth of God and His promises to you? Regardless of where thoughts originate submit each one to the power of Jesus Christ asking for his renewal and strength. Pray for decision makers in the high seats of government and churches across America to join you in seeking the overcoming, resurrected, living mind of Christ.

Today’s Verse: 1 Corithians 2:16

“For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

But, as it is written,

“What no eye has seen, nor ear heard,
nor the heart of man imagined,
what God has prepared for those who love him”—

10 these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. 11 For who knows a person’s thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God. 13 And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual.

14 The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. 15 The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. 16 “For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
