Four members of the majority also supported a discharge petition to require a vote on a 3 year ACA subsidy extension.
The House of Representatives advanced a bill on Wednesday that would allow the purchase of insurance in groups for a lower premium. When House Speaker Mike Johnson did not include the Affordable Care Act subsidies in the legislation, four members of the majority supported a discharge petition filed by Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries that will force a vote on them.
Representatives Brian Fitzpatrick, Ryan Mackenzie, and Rob Bresnahan, all from Pennsylvania, and Mike Lawler of New York signed onto the petition to hold a vote on the proposed three-year extension of the subsidies.
The House minority leader urged Speaker Johnson to hold a vote immediately, since the Obamacare subsidies are expiring at the end of this year. However, the vote will likely occur in January, since members of the House are leaving Washington, D.C., on winter break.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Speaker Johnson to be led by the Lord as he presides over the lower chamber of Congress.
- For members of the House to be discerning regarding health care subsidies and related legislation.
