U.S. Border Patrol Begins Operation Swamp Sweep in Louisiana

The immigration enforcement operation is expected to last two months.

U.S. Border Patrol reportedly began an immigration enforcement operation called “Swamp Sweep” in Louisiana and parts of Mississippi this week. Border Patrol commander Gregory Bovino heads the operation, as he has in other jurisdictions, including Los Angeles, California, Chicago, Illinois, and Charlotte, North Carolina.

Commander Bovino stated, “Let us be clear: When individuals who are not lawfully present in our country commit crimes or violate our immigration laws, they pose a direct threat to the safety and security of our neighborhoods. We are committed to upholding the rule of law.“

He added, “Our resolve to protect American citizens and enforce our laws is unwavering.”

“This is going out and taking dangerous criminals — people who have broken the law, who we know are wanted, who have been charged with a crime — and taking them out of our communities,” said Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry.

“We want Louisiana to be a safe place,” the governor continued. “Irrespective of whether you’re an American citizen who has committed a violent crime or an illegal alien who has committed a violent crime, we want to take those people off of our streets.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Commander Bovino and the Border Patrol agents to be discerning as they conduct immigration law enforcement sweeps.
  • For Governor Landry and state officials as they seek to ensure local police cooperate with federal law enforcement officers.
