This new schedule represents the most active offshore oil and gas leasing plan in decades.
The Interior Department recently released a five-year plan in support of offshore oil drilling leases. This plan would include up to thirty-four lease auctions in federal waters near Southern California, Florida, and Alaska between the years 2026 and 2031. This plan aligns with President Trump’s agenda to increase the U.S.’s energy sources to support consumers and a growing demand for domestic energy sources.
Interior Secretary Doug Burgum stated, “By moving forward with the development of a robust, forward-thinking leasing plan, we are ensuring that America’s offshore industry stays strong, our workers stay employed, and our nation remains energy-dominant for decades to come.”
The Interior’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management is accepting public comment on the schedule for sixty days. The bureau will then release a second draft, receive public comment again, and then finalize the plan.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For officials in the Department of the Interior as they receive public comments on the proposed plan.
- For Interior Secretary Burgum to be prudent as he works to support the nation’s energy sources.
- For wisdom for President Trump as he promotes the development of domestic energy sources.
