U.S. Treasury Sanctions Russian Oil Companies

The administration responds to President Putin’s lack of good faith in negotiating for peace in Ukraine.

Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control imposed sanctions on Russian oil companies as President Putin and Moscow officials deflect efforts to negotiate a ceasefire in Ukraine.

“Now is the time to stop the killing and for an immediate ceasefire,” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated.  “Given President Putin’s refusal to end this senseless war, Treasury is sanctioning Russia’s two largest oil companies that fund the Kremlin’s war machine.“

Secretary Bessent added, “Treasury is prepared to take further action if necessary to support President Trump’s effort to end yet another war. We encourage our allies to join us in and adhere to these sanctions.”

The European Union also placed new sanctions on Russia’s energy sector after the U.S. announcement.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For President Trump as he continues to seek peace in Ukraine.
  • For Secretary Bessent as he oversees the placement of sanctions against hostile nations.
  • For U.S. officials to be discerning in their evaluations of measures to leverage influence and encourage negotiations.
