He cautioned the governor regarding cost overruns and DEI practices that threaten the progress of the project.
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy sent a letter to Maryland Governor Wes Moore last week highlighting concerns over the rebuilding of the Francis Scott Key Bridge.
In March 2024, a container ship lost power and collided with the bridge, cutting off highway access over the Patapsco River. While President Biden’s administration had promised to provide federal funding to rebuild the crucial roadway, Secretary Duffy questioned the rising costs, the increasing timeline, and the use of diversity, equity, and inclusion hiring practices for the project.
“It’s my job to ensure the American people’s tax dollars are spent properly and major projects are completed on time and on budget,” wrote Secretary Duffy. “DEI contracting practices and ballooning project costs are already threatening to delay this critical project. We will leverage our oversight authorities to ensure this vital bridge is rebuilt the right way.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Duffy to receive God’s wisdom as he heads the Transportation Department and oversees the use of federal funding.
- For Governor Moore to be committed to the most efficient and effective methods to rebuild the Francis Scott Key Bridge.
