Praying for Our Leaders in Government
Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration
Secretary of State Marco Rubio signed paperwork officially expelling First Secretary of Cuba’s mission to the United Nations, Richard Tur de la Concepción, from the U.S. after he assaulted an American diplomat at the United Nations this week. The altercation occurred after Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla interrupted U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz’s speech during a UN session this week. At the time, Ambassador Waltz was describing the Cuban regime’s private island, which has luxurious amenities, while the people of Cuba live with blackouts and supply shortages.
Pray for Secretary Rubio and officials in the president’s administration as they address economic concerns at home and abroad.
Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress
Congressman Rich McCormick of Georgia introduced an amendment to the Communist Control Act of 1954 that would update its provisions to include the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA). Congressman McCormick said, “They want to rewrite our Constitution and fundamentally restructure the government of the United States. America has confronted this ideology before. We cannot sit back and watch it gain a foothold in our institutions. The Communist Control Act of 2026 makes clear that we will defend our Constitution, our freedoms, and the system of government that has made America the greatest and best country in the world.”
Pray for representatives and senators as they assess and propose updates to legal protections surrounding the U.S. government and the Constitution.
PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES
The chairs and ranking members of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee and Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee introduced legislation last month to reform the federal environmental review and permitting processes. Senators Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia, Mike Lee of Utah, Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island, and Martin Heinrich of New Mexico introduced the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act of 2026 to ensure permitted energy and infrastructure projects retain their permits to support energy stability, the economy, and employment.
Pray for members of congressional committees as they propose and introduce legislation to protect the nation’s power grid and electrical supply.
Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges
A panel of the Seventh Circuit U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that an Indiana state law barring anyone from knowingly assisting a minor obtain an abortion out of state without parental consent violates the First Amendment. Planned Parenthood brought the suit against the measure, claiming it restricts speech. The court majority found that the law prohibited speech to assist underage mothers in obtaining abortions while allowing speech that discouraged it.
Pray for federal judges as they hear cases that challenge state laws restricting abortion, including those involving minors and parental consent.
