White House Announces New Baltimore Shipyard to Support Construction of U.S. Navy Attack Submarines

The new shipyard will be built around software-designed production, and is expected to start delivering submarines by 2032.

The White House announced a partnership with Anduril Industries to build a new “software-defined” shipyard to build attack submarines for the U.S. Navy. Under the agreement, a new facility, named Arsenal-2, will be built in Baltimore County, Maryland. The $6.6 billion investment, $2.9 billion of which will come from the U.S. Navy, is expected to create 3,000 new jobs and support over 11,000 additional jobs.

President Trump recently visited the planned location for the new shipyard and suggested that the facility may have the capabilities to produce autonomous submarines. During his visit, the president stated, “I like the idea of an autonomous sub all down there by itself, but just as accurate… It’s incredible what they can do. I saw some research-and-development papers on it. It’s unbelievable the things that we’re coming up with over the next five-year period.”

The shipyard is expected to begin delivering two Virginia-class submarines per year by 2032.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For President Trump as he oversees defense strategies and the creation of new military vessels.
  • For Secretary Hegseth and Acting Navy Secretary Cao as they partner with Anduril to produce attack submarines for the Navy.
