Federal Jury Finds Two Indian Nationals Guilty in Cargo Theft Scheme

The accused face sentences of 20 years and 5 years in federal prison after scheming to steal at least $2 million worth of cargo.

The U.S. Department of Justice has announced that a federal jury returned a guilty verdict for two Indian nationals charged with stealing cargo from warehouses across Southern California. Each man was found guilty on one count of conspiracy to commit theft from interstate or foreign shipments, and one was also found guilty on one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud.

The Justice Department stated that, from March 2024 to June 2025, the “co-conspirators purchased or fraudulently used real trucking companies to bid on authentic shipping contracts. After winning the bids, the defendants and others took possession of the cargo but stole it rather than deliver it to the correct destination.“

The cargo included high-value electronics such as TVs, laptops, appliances, shoes, LED lights, and tires. The estimated value of the items stolen is at least $2 million.

U.S. District Judge Anne Hwang has scheduled their sentencing hearings for January 20, 2027.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For prudence for federal judges and juries as they hear and decide criminal cases.
  • For FBI agents and Justice Department officials who investigate and prosecute such criminal schemes.
