President Trump had removed certain news organizations from the White House Press Pool.
Mainstream media (MSM) outlets halted press coverage of President Trump in a boycott to show solidarity with CNN, MSNow, and Politico after the president revoked their White House press credentials. As the president conducted a ribbon-cutting ceremony and left the White House for New York on Monday, smaller independent news outlets maintained media coverage of his activities and actions.
The three media outlets filed a lawsuit against the president, claiming that removing their access from the White House violated the First Amendment.
The White House stated, “…Access is a privilege, not a right. Last week, President Donald J. Trump removed CNN, MS NOW, and Politico from the White House grounds after years of false reporting. The First Amendment protects their right to publish; it does not entitle them to a hard pass, briefing room seat, or place in the press pool.”
Vice President JD Vance explained, “It’s not a ban. It’s the refusal to grant special access to people who are engaged in dishonest reporting.”
The White House also announced TrumpTV on YouTube that will continually stream some of President Trump’s top videos and major remarks.
