Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration
The Department of Justice filed 25 denaturalization cases in recent weeks, increasing efforts to revoke the citizenship of naturalized U.S. citizens who have been convicted of violent crimes, including assault with a deadly weapon and murder. Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche stated that the “filings represent the largest coordinated denaturalization effort in Department history, but they are only the beginning.” He added, “The Justice Department will continue to use every tool available to protect the integrity of the naturalization process and the safety of the American people.”
Pray for AG Blanche and DOJ officials to be prudent as they conduct investigations and file denaturalization cases against criminals.
Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress
The House of Representatives passed the Stop Insider Trading Act with bipartisan support just before the August recess. “For too long, Americans struggling to make ends meet have watched as lawmakers have entered office just to leave as multi-millionaires,” House Speaker Mike Johnson stated. “This type of behavior is unacceptable and diminishes the American people’s trust in this institution.” The Senate is expected to propose its own stricter legislation, prohibiting not only members of Congress, but their families, the president and vice president from owning and trading individual stocks.
Pray for members of Congress as they work to block public servants from capitalizing on privileged economic information.
PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES
The House Ethics Committee, chaired by Representative Michael Guest of Mississippi, concluded, after an investigation into the conduct of Congressman Chuck Edwards of North Carolina, that “there was substantial reason to believe Representative Edwards violated House Rules related to sexual harassment and hostile workplaces.” The committee recommended censure over the allegations regarding his “highly unprofessional” treatment of and “increasingly unusual attention” toward two young female staffers. Congressman Edwards withdrew his campaign for reelection this week after the ethics panel released its findings.
Pray for members and chairs of congressional committees as they seek to uphold ethical standards in House and Senate.
Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges
The Fifth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals ruled that noncitizens illegally residing in the United States do not have a constitutional right to roam free during removal proceedings. The decision overturned a lower court ruling that granted bond hearings and released three illegal aliens from Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody.
Pray for circuit and district judges as they hear cases regarding constitutional protections and immigration enforcement.
