Praying for Our Leaders in Government
Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration
The Department of Justice filed a complaint against the District of Columbia Bar this month after its attempts to disbar administration officials. The department requested that the court void proceedings against Jeffrey Clark, who drafted a letter that was never sent, regarding 2020 election irregularities in Georgia. The DOJ attorney who filed the suit stated, “The D.C. Bar will no longer be permitted to probe sensitive Executive Branch deliberations and target Executive Branch officials with whom they happen to politically disagree, and Federal attorneys will once again be free to share their candid legal advice with their bosses and colleagues.”
Pray for Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche and DOJ officials as they seek to uphold the law.
Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress
The House and Senate are working on a final version of comprehensive legislation intended to increase the supply and decrease the cost of housing nationwide. Senate Banking Chairman Tim Scott of South Carolina, Banking ranking member Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, House Financial Services Chairman French Hill of Arkansas, and that panel’s ranking member Maxine Waters of California worked together on the bill, which is currently in the Senate.
Pray for members of both houses of Congress as they negotiate legislation to address the housing concerns of Americans.
PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES
The Senate Commerce Committee is marking up the “Protect College Sports Act” this week. Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, chair of the committee, said the legislation “protects athletes and fans and keeps college sports from becoming a two-conference minor league.” Senator Maria Cantwell of Washington stated, “This bill puts new tools and new rules on the table to rein in runaway costs while still preserving [name, image, and likeness], revenue sharing, and women and Olympic sports.”
Pray for discernment for members of congressional committees as they seek to ensure competition in college sports and protect college athletes.
Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges
A Rhode Island district judge vacated President Trump’s immigration policies that halted the processing of applications for green cards and naturalization ceremonies for immigrants from 39 countries. The president’s policy was enacted after two National Guard members were shot in Washington, D.C., last fall. The judge ruled, “Over six months later, many of those individuals remain without work, without legal status, and without any meaningful ability to plan for their futures.”
Pray for wisdom for federal judges as they consider challenges to the actions and decisions of President Trump and officials in his administration.
