Transportation Department Invests in Airport Infrastructure Modernization

The transportation secretary said that “American families deserve state-of-the-art runways and infrastructure that will make their travel experience safer, smoother, and more efficient.”

Department of Transportation (DOT) Secretary Sean Duffy announced that the Federal Aviation Administration has invested more than $523 million in airports across the nation. The department reported that 322 grants were awarded across 42 states to assist with various large-scale airport infrastructure improvements.

Secretary Duffy said, “Upgrading our runway infrastructure is part of our work to usher in the Golden Age of Transportation. American families deserve state-of-the-art runways and infrastructure that will make their travel experience safer, smoother, and more efficient.”

Funds were awarded to airports, including Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, Syracuse Hancock International Airport, and Baton Rouge Metro Airport. The projects include terminal and runway reconstructions, taxiway expansions, and baggage system upgrades.
