Reports detail arrests, firearm recoveries, and drug seizures as part of broader public‑safety operations
Federal officials recently released the results of two major crime‑reduction efforts carried out over the past several months. The Department of Justice (DOJ) announced “Operation Spring Cleaning,” a coordinated initiative involving federal, state, and local agencies focused on disrupting gang activity and limiting the flow of illegal firearms and narcotics.
“When our neighborhoods are safe from the scourge of deadly drugs, individuals and families can prosper,” stated Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche.
Between March and May, the operation stated it resulted in more than 1,100 arrests, over 600 charges, and nearly 600 search warrants. Authorities also reported the seizure of close to 1,000 illegal firearms and more than 2,700 pounds of drugs, including cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl, heroin, and other substances.
A separate FBI update highlighted a similar three‑month nationwide operation to reduce violent crime and dismantle criminal networks. Officials stressed that the combined efforts reflect a broader effort to address public‑safety concerns across the country.
