Supreme Court Stays Injunction Against Telehealth Abortion Drug Prescriptions

The Fifth Circuit had ruled in Louisiana’s favor and imposed a nationwide block.

The Supreme Court temporarily lifted an injunction against abortion drugs being provided via telehealth appointments after the Fifth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals had unanimously blocked such prescriptions nationwide.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had allowed the prescription of mifepristone via telehealth appointments during the COVID-19 pandemic. Previously, access to the drug, which was approved by the agency in 2000, was only through in-person health appointments. The FDA then made the telehealth access permanent in 2023.

The Supreme Court’s temporary stay of the injunction will expire on May 11.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the justices of the Supreme Court as they deliberate injunction placed by the 5th Circuit in the Louisiana case.
  • For wisdom for the justices as they consider the medical ramifications of the prescribing of mifepristone via telehealth appointments.
