Issue 740 – Verse of the Week

February 26th – March 4th 2026

VERSE OF THE WEEK

The saying is trustworthy, and I want you to insist on these things, so that those who have believed in God may be careful to devote themselves to good works. These things are excellent and profitable for people.  – Titus 3:8

Run Your Race

Good works are the consequence of one’s salvation, not the source of it. A sincere and grateful faith pours out of a person through the good works that are done. As James 2:26 says, “Faith apart from works is dead.” According to the Westminster Confession of Faith, good works provide you with the following benefits: deeper gratitude to God for the gift of His Son; bolsters assurance of faith; edifies and encourages other believers to do them; shows your adoration of the Savior; silences critics on the value of biblical Christianity; and openly glorifies God by the display of His work of love in your life. Whether you plan ahead to do good works or not, be sensitive to the Lord’s leading and be prepared to “run with endurance the race that is set before us” (Hebrews 12:1).
