Praying for Our Leaders in Government
Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration
The Departments of Homeland Security (DHS) and Energy have been coordinating recovery from Winter Storm Fern. Mississippi and Florida, in particular, were in need of relief from the after effects of the storm. Energy Secretary Wright issued emergency orders to secure Florida’s power grid. Secretary Noem commended DHS and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) teams who worked with Mississippi officials on post-storm recovery.
Pray for wisdom for department secretaries as they coordinate with and assist state officials.
Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress
Senator Marsha Blackburn, who sits on the Senate Judiciary Committee, urged Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts to investigate whether Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson’s behavior at the Grammy awards violates the court’s Code of Conduct. The senator suggested that the associate justice’s applause for anti-immigration sentiments expressed during the event could require her to recuse herself from certain cases, since her actions might undermine public confidence in impartiality.
Pray for members of the House as they seek to uphold impartiality and the code of ethics in the Judicial Branch.
PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES
During a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on fraud committed by Somalis in Minnesota, Senator Ted Cruz of Texas alleged that “Somalis sent billions back to Somalia.” He added that “much of it flowed to al-Shabaab, the radical Islamist terrorist group.” Senator Cruz stated, “The fraud in Minnesota was not accidental or unforeseeable. It was the product of deliberate inaction, willful blindness, and calculated abuse.”
Pray for members of the House and Senate as they conduct hearings to eliminate fraud and abuse of federal funding programs.
Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges
The Supreme Court allowed a lower court ruling to stand that permitted California to use its redrawn district maps for the midterms in November. The high court previously overturned a lower court ruling that blocked Texas from using its redrawn congressional maps in this year’s election.
Pray for justices of the Supreme Court as they hear cases regarding election integrity and redistricting.
