VERSE OF THE WEEK
Who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. – 2 Corinthians 1:4
Compassion
What do you do when an infant or small child is upset or crying? You would likely pick them up and hold them close, offering compassion and comfort. How do you treat an adult who is in distress or feeling grieved? Do you offer compassion and comfort to them as well? Or do you tend to try to advise them or resolve the situation? The Lord said, “Comfort ye My people,” and “speak tenderly” to them in Isaiah 40:1-2. Jesus spoke gently to those who came to Him in distress or trouble. The apostle Paul told the Ephesians (4:32) to be kind and tenderhearted toward one another. As you pray this week, ask the Holy Spirit to lead you in demonstrating His lovingkindness and tender mercies toward those around you!
