The U.S. military captured Maduro and his wife after months of intelligence on their routines.
President Donald Trump announced that elite American troops captured Dictator Nicolas Maduro in an overnight raid Saturday morning from his resort home in Mar-a-Lago. The military mission, dubbed “Absolute Resolve,” was the culmination of months of planning and preparation.
President Trump reported, “Overwhelming American military power, air, land, and sea was used to launch a spectacular assault, and it was an assault like people have not seen since World War II.”
“We are going to run the country until such time as we can do a safe, proper, and judicious transition,” President Trump said. “We can’t take a chance at somebody else takes over Venezuela that doesn’t have the good of the Venezuelan people in mind.”
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine said that U.S. intelligence put in “months of work by our intelligence teammates to find Maduro and understand how he moved, where he lived, where he traveled, what he ate, what he wore, what were his pets.”
Attorney General Pam Bondi later stated, “Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, have been indicted in the Southern District of New York. Nicolas Maduro has been charged with Narco-Terrorism Conspiracy, Cocaine Importation Conspiracy, Possession of Machineguns and Destructive Devices, and Conspiracy to Possess Machineguns and Destructive Devices against the United States. They will soon face the full wrath of American justice on American soil in American courts.”
