Legislators feel that there should be stricter regulations put in place to mitigate some of their concerns.
U.S. Senators Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Katie Britt of Alabama have raised concerns about the dangers of the use of artificial intelligence (AI) on American society. The legislators have introduced the Guidelines for User Age-verification and Responsible Dialogue Act in the Senate, which seeks to require the technology companies that create and maintain these platforms to be held accountable under federal law.
The senators cited the dangers of chatbots to minors, as well as the potential that AI has to take over jobs, as their main concerns. There have been a number of families that have accused various companies of creating unregulated chatbots, which led their children to commit suicide. In addition, there are ongoing concerns that AI may soon take over jobs, leaving more Americans without access to healthcare and financial stability.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Senators Sanders and Britt as they promote legislation to regulate the use of AI.
- For wisdom for legislators as they examine this new bill regarding greater restrictions on the use of AI.
