Education Department Announces Prevention of Over $1 Billion in Student Aid Fraud

FSA has stopped artificial intelligence from posing as students and thwarted international organized crime.

The Department of Education announced that they prevented $1 billion in Federal Student Aid (FSA) fraud in 2025. This large sum includes uncovering AI bots pretending to be students and organized international theft. Over the summer, the department implemented tighter identification requirements for students who wished to use the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the first time.

The department also announced “fraud detection team” will be established for the FSA, which will focus on preventing fraud and deceptive applicants.

“American citizens have to present an ID to purchase a ticket to travel or to rent a car – it’s only right that they should present an ID to access tens of thousands of taxpayer dollars to fund their education,” said Education Secretary Linda McMahon.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For discernment for Secretary McMahon as she leads her department in protecting federal aid funds from fraud and theft.
  • For U.S. education officials as they analyse the best way to prevent fraud both nationally and internationally.
