Pray for America’s Military
President Trump has ordered a “total and complete blockade” of all sanctioned oil tankers entering or exiting Venezuela. The U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Navy are coordinating the blockage of the vessels, which will hinder the main source of Venezuela’s income. President Trump stated that the U.S. armada has Venezuela “completely surrounded.”
Pray for discernment for President Trump and Secretary Hegseth as they address the Venezuelan government’s relationship with cartels and other organized criminal organizations.
PRAY FOR AN END TO THE WAR IN UKRAINE
Envoys Steve Witkoff and Advisor Jared Kushner reported that 90 percent of the challenges in the peace plan have been resolved with Ukraine after negotiations took place in Berlin. President Volodymyr Zelensky has accepted that Ukraine may not seek to join NATO and has expressed openness to holding elections despite the country being under martial law.
Pray for U.S. negotiators as they continue to seek compromises from Ukraine and Russia to obtain peace.
Pray for AMERICA’S RELATIONSHIP WITH ISRAEL
President Trump’s administration is considering terrorism-related sanctions against Hamas-linked United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA). U.S. investigators have found mounting evidence of complicity by the United Nations’ agency in the diversion of humanitarian aid by Hamas since it began the war with Israel on October 7, 2023. Earlier this year, Israeli intelligence reported “among the 12,521 UNRWA employees in the Gaza Strip, at least 1,462 (12%) are members of Hamas or other designated terrorist organizations.”
Pray for U.S. officials as they review and assess measures to address Hamas’ and UNRWA’s involvement in the Gaza aid theft.
Pray for AMERICA’S HEALTH AND WELL-BEING
Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., moderated a roundtable this week for Lyme disease patients, clinicians, and researchers to discuss diagnostics and clinical needs. “Secretary Kennedy said, “For decades, Americans suffering from Lyme disease have been denied the accurate diagnostics and meaningful care they deserve.” The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that 476,000 Americans are diagnosed and treated for Lyme disease each year.
Pray for Secretary Kennedy to receive God’s direction as he oversees efforts to improve diagnostics and treatment for Lyme disease.
Pray for Needs Across the States
The Oregon secretary of state has until January 29 to validate almost 200,000 signatures of voters who signed on to place the state legislature-approved gas tax increase on the ballot next fall. The campaign to end the six-cent addition to the current 40-cent-per-gallon gas tax, which was signed by Governor Tina Kotek on November 7, had under two months to gather a minimum of 78,000 signatures to get the measure on the ballot.
The West Virginia Board of Education is reinstating its school vaccine mandate without religious exemption while a lawsuit appealing the mandate continues. The state’s supreme court stayed a lower court’s permanent injunction that had found the mandate illegal for not allowing an exemption on religious grounds. Governor Patrick Morrissey previously issued an executive order in favor of religious exemptions to the strict school vaccine mandate.
Pray for state officials and voters as they seek to ensure measures and mandates serve the public interest.
