Issue 729 – Federal Branches

Praying for Our Leaders in Government

Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration

President Donald Trump issued an executive order to stop price fixing, anti-competitive behavior, and foreign influence that “drives up grocery prices and threatens the security of America’s food supply.” The order states, “An affordable and secure food supply is vital to America’s national and economic security.” The president directed Attorney General Bondi and Chairman Ferguson of the Federal Trade Commission to each establish a Food Supply Chain Security Task Force in their respective agencies to investigate such behaviors in food supply sectors, including meat processing, seed, fertilizer, and equipment supply.

Pray for the president and his administration officials to seek God’s guidance as they work to strengthen the nation’s economy and food supply chain.

Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress

Congressmen Brett Guthrie of Kentucky and Gus Bilirakis of Florida held a joint hearing entitled “Legislative Solutions to Protect Children and Teens Online“ to consider dozens of pieces of legislation that would require additional safeguards from social media, app, and AI corporations. The two major bills under debate were the Children and Teens’ Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA), as children and teens have increasingly experienced harm through online bullying, grooming, and exploitation.

Pray for members of the House and Senate as they seek consensus on the best way to prevent harm to children and teens through online sources.

PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES

The Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Intellectual Property, chaired by Senator Thom Tillis of North Carolina, held a hearing this week titled “Balancing the Interests of Local Radio, Songwriters, and Performers in the Digital Age” to consider the proposed American Music Fairness Act (AMFA). They heard testimony from witnesses in the broadcasting and music industries regarding the proposal to require over-the-air broadcasters to pay a federal performance royalty in addition to current music licensing fees.

Pray for the chairs and members of committees and subcommittees as they weigh the benefits and burdens of new regulations and fees.

Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges

After unanimously overturning District Judge Indira Talwani’s block of Congress’ defunding of abortion in a challenge from Planned Parenthood in the One Big Beautiful Bill in September, the First Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals has now stayed her preliminary injunction, issued December 2, to halt the defunding in a lawsuit brought by 22 states.

Pray for district and circuit court judges to be led by the Lord as they hear and rule on cases.
