Preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. – 1 Peter 1:13
Set Your Mind
The apostle Paul wrote often of setting your mind… on things above, on things that are excellent, on things of the Spirit. He encourages you to let God’s word transform your mind. In this week’s verse, Peter urges you to be sober-minded and mentally prepared for action. This means you hold fast to sound spiritual principles, not allowing yourself to be captivated by outside influences. At a time when the nation is divided, and the things of Christ are considered by some to be “dangerous,” it is essential to keep your focus on the Lord and His purposes for you. As you prepare for action, always remember that your hope needs to be set also—set on the return of Jesus Christ. Maranatha! O Lord, come!
