Praying for Our Leaders in Government

Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration

The U.S. Department of Agriculture depleted the remaining $4.65 billion in contingency funds to support the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program to comply with court orders to do so. The amount only provides SNAP benefits for half the month of November as the federal government shutdown continues. Deputy Under Secretary Patrick Penn, of the Food Nutrition and Consumer Services, “This means that no funds will remain for new SNAP applicants certified in November, disaster assistance, or as a cushion against the potential catastrophic consequences of shutting down SNAP entirely.”

Pray for the president and members of his administration as they comply with orders from federal judges.

Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress

Representative August Pfluger of Texas introduced a bill in the House of Representatives last month that would block the United States from funding a UN global shipping carbon tax. Congressman Pfluger said, “This legislation would kill their global carbon tax scheme permanently by depriving all U.S. funding to any U.N. agency that attempts to impose a tax on the American people and ensuring Congress has a say in all taxes, fees, and penalties on American citizens or companies.”

Pray for representatives and senators as they seek to ensure the United Nations does not overrule their authority to determine U.S. appropriations.

PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES

The House Oversight Committee, chaired by Representative James Comer of Kentucky, which issued a report last week on the “flagrant” use of the autopen during President Joe Biden’s presidency, has asked the Department of Justice to investigate some orders it has deemed “invalid.” The report stated, “The investigation revealed holes in the chain of custody of the president’s decision binder, which contained decision memos to be signed or initialed by President Biden when approving or disapproving executive actions, as well as numerous instances in which the president’s approval for an executive action or the chief of staff’s approval of signature by autopen was not memorialized.”

Pray for members of the congressional committees as they provide oversight of the Executive Branch and federal agencies.

Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges

A federal court in Chicago is hearing charges against an Illinois man who issued multiple threats online to execute President Trump. The man has a history of threatening political figures, having posted violent messages about various public officials in 2022.

Pray for the judges to be discerning as they hear cases regarding threats of violence to the president and other public servants.
