Issue 723 – National Prayer Needs

Additional National Prayer Needs

Pray for America’s Military

As Hurricane Melissa progressed through the Caribbean earlier this week, the U.S. Navy evacuated over a thousand nonessential military personnel, with their families and pets, from Naval Station Guantanamo Bay. The service members, families, and contractors were relocated to the Emergency Family Assistance Center at the Fleet and Family Support Center in Pensacola, Florida. The remaining 3,000 residents of the Guantanamo base moved to temporary shelters in a community gym and school.

Pray for Secretary Phelan and U.S. naval commanders as they move personnel in response to severe and threatening weather.

PRAY FOR AN END TO THE WAR IN UKRAINE

Russia conducted testing of an over 8,000-mile-range nuclear-powered missile this week as President Trump traveled to Asia. The U.S. recently placed sanctions on Russian oil companies over the Ukraine war. President Trump responded to journalists’ questions about the missile testing by saying that the U.S. has a powerful nuclear submarine not far from Russia’s coast. President Trump also said that President Putin “ought to get the war ended. … That’s what you ought to do instead of testing missiles.” President Trump noted that the U.S. tests missiles “all the time,” and that, “They’re not playing games with us and we’re not playing games with them either.”

Pray for President Trump and members of his administration as they seek peace in Ukraine.

Pray for AMERICA’S RELATIONSHIP WITH ISRAEL

Israel has conducted strikes on Gaza after claiming Hamas violated the terms of the ceasefire. The strikes were ordered by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after an Israeli Defense Force (IDF) soldier was killed in Rafah and remains returned by Hamas were found to be additional body parts of a hostage the IDF recovered two years ago. Hamas stated it will return no more bodies of dead hostages due to the strikes on Gaza. President Trump said that Israel has a right to “hit back” but said that “nothing was going to jeopardize” the ceasefire. He added, “If Hamas does not behave, they will be terminated.”

Pray for U.S. and Israeli officials as they assess the first phase of the ceasefire and adherence to its terms.

Pray for AMERICA’S HEALTH AND WELL-BEING

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued an emergency use authorization (EUA) for a chewable tablet to treat New World screwworm in dogs. The FDA explained that dogs located close to the U.S.-Mexico border, or that have traveled to countries with active screwworm cases, are more at risk than the majority of animals around the nation. FDA Commissioner Makary said of this first EUA ever for an animal drug, “When it comes to emerging animal health threats, we need to be proactive, not reactive.”

Pray for Secretary Kennedy, Commissioner Makary, and other U.S. health officials to be wise in their assessment of necessary treatments for humans and animals.

Pray for Needs Across the States

The North Carolina Senate and House passed a redrawn map of the state’s 14 congressional districts this month. The redistricting map did not require Governor Josh Stein’s signature to become law. Lawsuits are anticipated to challenge the new map.

A South Dakota legislative task force has proposed 18 measures for state lawmakers to consider to reduce property taxes. The state’s property taxes rose more than 38 percent from 2020 to 2024. The proposals include lowering state spending to offset property tax relief, increasing sales tax to compensate for property tax revenue, one-time property tax credits for temporary relief, and requiring local public votes before allowing school districts to raise taxes beyond state limits

Pray for state judges and justices and governing authorities as they seek to ensure the security of ballots and the privacy of voters.

Pray for America’s Faith Community

“When I first heard about spiritual warfare, I pictured missionaries in remote villages or people denouncing demons. But as I’ve walked with Christ, I’ve realized something much more subtle and personal. The most intense spiritual battles are in our minds, in our emotions, and in the way we respond to everyday challenges.
If you’re following Jesus, you are already in a battle. This isn’t just for pastors or super-spiritual people. Every believer steps into a very real spiritual conflict each time they choose light over darkness. The moment you choose to forgive, speak truth, or walk in obedience, resistance will come. Not maybe. Not someday. It’s already happening. … Jesus called Satan the “father of lies” in John 8:44. His main strategy isn’t to frighten us—it’s to confuse us, to isolate us, and to lead us just a few degrees off course. …
When I’m tired, disappointed, or under pressure, those lies get louder. If I’m not alert, I start agreeing with them. But when I identify the lie and replace it with God’s truth, that’s when the battle shifts. …
Jesus already won the war. Satan is a defeated enemy. But that doesn’t mean we’re off the hook. Until Jesus returns, we will still face battles—personal, emotional, and spiritual. How we fight them matters because they shape our character, our relationships, and our legacy.”
