Praying for Our Leaders in Government
Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration
Federal Bureau of Investigation Director Kash Patel has terminated agency employees connected with the Justice Department’s “Arctic Frost“ operation under President Biden’s administration, which illegally monitored private communications of conservative political figures and organizations. Half a dozen U.S. senators of the now-majority party were included among the individuals being monitored. Director Patel stated that he is “removing those who weaponized law enforcement for political purposes and those who do not meet the standards of this mission while restoring integrity to the FBI.“
Pray for Attorney General Bondi, Director Patel, and federal law enforcement as they investigate and respond to illegal activities by current or former government officials.
Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress
Congressman Ralph Norman of South Carolina introduced a bill to amend the U.S. Constitution to strip Congress of pay during a government shutdown. “Members of Congress have a constitutional duty to fund the government’s essential functions,” Representative Norman stated. “If Congress fails to meet that obligation, we should not expect taxpayers to continue paying us for inaction. No one else in America would get paid for failing to fulfill their duties – Congress should face the same principle.” Representatives Bob Latta of Ohio, Jack Bergman of Michigan, Eli Crane of Arizona, Cory Mills of Florida, Dusty Johnson of South Dakota, and John Joyce of Pennsylvania co-sponsored the proposal.
Pray for wisdom for members of Congress as they consider appropriations and constitutional amendments.
PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES
Senate Appropriations Chair Susan Collins of Maine and Senate Judiciary Chair Chuck Grassley of Iowa jointly expressed gratitude to White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Russ Vought for the release of $5 million to the Pandemic Response Accountability Committee (PRAC) last week. The legislators stated, “We are pleased that following our outreach, OMB has decided to release funds that will allow PRAC to remain operational and continue its vital oversight work.”
Pray for the chairs of Senate and House committees as they provide oversight to federal agencies.
Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges
The Fifth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals has agreed to an en banc hearing of the lawsuit to halt the state of Louisiana from displaying historical U.S. founding documents, such as the Ten Commandments, in public schools. The state passed a law last year, signed by Governor Landry, requiring that documents, including the Mayflower Compact and Declaration of Independence, be displayed in schools.
Pray for federal and appellate judges as they hear cases regarding the constitutionality of state laws and regulations.
