Praying for Our Leaders in Government
Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration
Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick announced that responsibility for the National Semiconductor Technology Center (NSTC) is being assumed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to align with statutory requirements and increase transparency. The previous administration had established the private nonprofit National Center for the Advancement of Semiconductor Technology Center (Natcast) to operate the NSTC after the CHIPS and Science Act was passed by Congress and signed by President Biden in 2022. Secretary Lutnick said, “Ending this illegal relationship between Natcast and the NSTC will ensure that the Commerce Department keeps control of taxpayer funds and delivers investments and benefits for all Americans.“
Pray for President Trump and members of his Cabinet as they seek to ensure federal funding is used effectively and appropriately on the projects Congress has approved.
Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress
The House of Representatives passed Congressman Andy Barr’s Stop Chinese Fentanyl Act this week. Representative Barr stated, “The Chinese Communist Party has played a key part in the deadly fentanyl crisis plaguing Kentucky and our entire country—from manufacturing fentanyl in China to laundering the products through the cartels and into the country.” The act allows the U.S. government to sanction Chinese organizations, individuals, or government connected with efforts to “produce, sell, finance, or transport synthetic opioids or precursor chemicals.”
Pray for senators and representatives as they consider the appropriations requests from federal agencies to keep the government functioning into the coming fiscal year.
PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES
The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, chaired by Congressman James Comer of Kentucky, has begun to release documents related to Jeffrey Epstein received from the Justice Department. Representative Thomas Massie, also from Kentucky, has filed a discharge petition seeking 218 signatures to bring legislation to the floor that would require the DOJ to disclose all the records in its possession. Speaker Mike Johnson has supported the Oversight Committee’s work, saying that the information needs to be released “in the right way.“
Pray for Chair Comer and members of the committee as they evaluate the files, records, and documents related to Jeffrey Epstein and his associates, and determine what information to release to the public.
Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges
The District of Columbia U.S. District Court lifted an injunction placed by a lower court against the Environmental Protection Agency’s attempt to terminate $20 billion in grants hastily approved by President Biden’s administration under the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund before President Trump took office. The circuit court stated, “The grantees are not likely to succeed on the merits because their claims are essentially contractual, and therefore jurisdiction lies exclusively in the Court of Federal Claims.“
Pray for district and appellate court judges as they hear and decide cases of jurisdiction and authority.
