Praying for Our Leaders in Government
Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration
The Federal Bureau of Investigation raided former National Security Advisor John Bolton’s Bethesda, Maryland, home and D.C. office last week. The agents are continuing an investigation into the mishandling of classified information by Mr. Bolton, who reportedly emailed “highly sensitive national security documents” to members of his family through a private server prior to leaving President Trump’s first administration. Former President Biden’s administration halted the investigation that had begun before he took office in 2021.
Pray for Attorney General Bondi and FBI Director Patel as they investigate and assess the potential mishandling of classified national security information.
Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress
A bipartisan effort is being made in Congress to lower the barriers for new ingredients in sunscreens. Legislation has been introduced in the House and the Senate seeking to reauthorize the Over-the-Counter Monograph Drug User Fee Program (OMUFA) that would update the Food and Drug Administration’s approach to products. The bill has been supported by members from both sides of the aisle who cite other nations, that regulate sunscreen as a cosmetic or therapeutic product rather than an over-the-counter drug, having made significant advancements in ingredients for a smoother and lighter application. No new sunscreen ingredients have been approved since 1999.
Pray for members of Congress as they consider legislation to improve the ingredients of sunscreen in the U.S.
PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES
The House Oversight and Accountability Committee has subpoenaed Jeffrey Epstein’s estate for documents and communications, including phone and visitor logs. The committee will also be hearing testimony from former U.S. Attorney Alexander Acosta, who offered Epstein a plea deal. Other former attorneys general will also submit written testimony under committee subpoenas regarding the prior administration’s investigation and findings.
Pray for Chair Comer and members of the committee as they continue to investigate Jeffrey Epstein, his associates, and the previous administration’s handling of the case.
Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges
The Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals ruled in favor of a mother who was prohibited by the Oregon Department of Human Services from adopting a child due to her religious convictions regarding transgender ideology. The court ordered the state agency to reconsider her application under First Amendment protections, stating, “Adoption is not a constitutional law dead zone. And a state’s general conception of the child’s best interest does not create a force field against the valid operation of other constitutional rights.”
Pray for district and circuit court judges to be prudent in their determinations and decisions.
