Envoy Witkoff met with President Putin on Wednesday to discuss a ceasefire in Ukraine.
President Donald Trump issued an executive order on Wednesday doubling tariffs against India for purchasing oil from the Russian Federation. The move came earlier than originally planned, as the president had stated the secondary tariffs would come into play on Friday.
U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff was in Moscow on Wednesday for ceasefire negotiations. He met with Kremlin envoy Kirill Dmitriev before meeting with President Vladimir Putin.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated Tuesday that U.S. leverage seems to be the only thing that has reduced the intensity of Russian attacks.
“Not a single day has gone by without their terror against civilians. Not a single day have they given us real, complete silence on the frontline. And the root cause of this war is simply Russia’s desire to control the lives of its neighbors, to subjugate them, to kill them. If not for that, there would be no war,” President Zelensky wrote.
