President Trump accepts the recess despite outstanding nominees waiting to be confirmed.
President Donald Trump agreed on Saturday to the Senate going on its August recess despite over 100 federal nominees waiting to be confirmed.
President Trump had been seeking the confirmation of his nominees before senators headed to their local offices for the month, causing members to explore possible solutions to meet the president’s wishes. On Saturday evening, the president told members of his party to “go home and explain to your constituents” how the confirmations have been blocked.
The minority party had offered to stop blocking confirmations for a release of $1 billion in frozen funding by the Office of Management and Budget. President Trump called the offer “political extortion.“
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For President Trump to be led by the Lord as he implements policies and makes decisions.
- For Senate Majority Leader Thune as he considers the upper chamber’s priorities in September.
- For House Speaker Mike Johnson as he deliberates the appropriations work to come next month.
