Additional National Prayer Needs
Pray for America’s Military
U.S. Army paratroopers from the 3rd Battalion, 509th Parachute Regiment – nicknamed “Three Geronimo” – flew 6,800 miles nonstop from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Alaska to Australia and parachuted in as part of Exercise Talisman Sabre 2025 this month. Colonel Brian Weightman, commander of the 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne) of the U.S. Army’s 11th Airborne Division, stated, “To be able to directly deliver an infantry battalion with its command that is situationally aware and physically optimized onto a drop zone 7,000 miles away, means that you can really go anywhere in the world.” More than 35,000 personnel from the U.S. and 18 other Indo-Pacific, North American, and European countries participated in the war games.
Pray for U.S. military leaders and Pentagon officials as they evaluate the battle preparedness and exercises of the Armed Forces. Pray for the safety of U.S. active-duty service members stationed and deployed around the globe.
PRAY FOR AN END TO THE WAR IN UKRAINE
Representatives of Ukraine and Russia met again last week to discuss the potential for a ceasefire. The two sides agreed to more exchanges of prisoners, which was the result of the previous two peace talks between those nations. Russia has conditioned a ceasefire on Ukraine ceding four regions in addition to Crimea.
Pray for President Trump and U.S. military and diplomatic officials as they look for ways to motivate Russia to agree to peace.
Pray for AMERICA’S RELATIONSHIP WITH ISRAEL
Israel and Ukraine have agreed to begin talks on how to counter the threat posed by Iran due to its close ties to Russia. Israel and the U.S. oppose Iran’s nuclear weapon development, which the latter has pledged to continue despite the severe damage done by Israel and the U.S. in June. Russia has reportedly been using Iranian-designed drones against Ukraine.
Pray for discernment for U.S., Israeli, and Ukrainian representatives as they seek to counter threats from Iran.
Pray for AMERICA’S HEALTH AND WELL-BEING
Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C., announced that it will no longer perform gender transition medical interventions on children after August 30. The hospital stated that it would discontinue the prescription of transgender medications “in light of escalating legal and regulatory risks to Children’s National, our providers, and the families we serve.“ The announcement came after the Department of Justice began an investigation into several doctors and hospitals conducting irreversible treatments on minors.
Pray for U.S. officials as they seek to protect the mental and physical health, well-being, and future of children in this nation.
Pray for Needs Across the States
The Missouri Supreme Court ruled that jurisdictions cannot stack taxes on marijuana. Once a town or city has charged a tax, the county is not allowed to impose another tax. The state court decided that counties are only permitted to charge taxes on marijuana sales in unincorporated areas. The voter approval to legalize marijuana had allowed for a 3 percent “local government” tax, which the court has now restricted to a single governing entity.
Tennessee has formed a new task force to guide the state’s education policies. The Advisory Committee on Innovations in K-12 Education will provide suggestions for potential legislation regarding education. The state has already implemented measures on school vouchers, charter schools, and third-grade retention. Legislation to increase teachers’ pay has also been passed, and recent testing indicates that student scores have steadily improved overall.
Pray for state legislative officials and judges as they determine how to resolve challenges in their jurisdictions.
Pray for America’s Faith Community
“Marriages and families are messy. That’s because the people who make up those marriages and families are messy. We’ve all got issues … not a single one of us is perfect. So, what can we do to overcome these imperfections and have the healthy family God wants for us? Well, it takes one simple ingredient … Grace.
If you want to see grace in action, look how Jesus reacted to the sinful people in His life.
Think about the woman caught in the act of adultery in John chapter 8. Jesus didn’t beat her over the head with Law—even though she’d broken it.
As the crowd was ready to stone her, He said in John 8:7, “He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.”
Well, Jesus was without sin. And if anyone could’ve cast a stone at her, it would’ve been Him.
The grace and truth of Jesus to this sinful woman is as plain as day. And that’s exactly what we need to have with our spouse, our kids, our parents, and all our loved ones. We need to treat them with grace and truth. And we need to respond to them and confront them in love and in kindness. …
Praise God, He is compassionate and gracious toward His children. And if anyone has the right to beat us over the head, it’s the Lord! But He doesn’t. When we blow it, He invites us back into His loving presence. That’s what forgiveness does. … The solution is grace.
Jesus is full of grace and truth. May He fill us with the same mixture of divine goodness!– Dr. Jeff Schreve, From His Heart Ministries
