Issue 709 – National Prayer Needs

Additional National Prayer Needs

Pray for America’s Military

The Pentagon announced that waivers previously provided for various physical or psychological conditions will no longer be given to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces. Defense Secretary Hegseth signed new guidance updating the list of conditions that disqualify potential recruits from serving in the military. “America’s warfighters must be physically and mentally capable of performing their duties in the harshest of conditions,” Secretary Hegseth wrote in his memo. “Severe underlying medical conditions introduce significant risks on the battlefield and threaten not only mission priorities, but also the health and safety of the affected individual and their fellow service members.”

Pray for Secretary Hegseth and all U.S. military leaders and commanders as they seek to ensure American military readiness.

PRAY FOR AN END TO THE WAR IN UKRAINE

Patriot systems being sent to Ukraine from the United States for defense against Russia’s ongoing drone and missile attacks are being paid for by European nations. President Trump stated that Russian President Putin “talks nice but then bombs everybody in the evening.” President Trump said, “A lot of people are dying and it should end.” He added, “[Putin’s] very nice all the time, but it turns out to be meaningless.”

Pray for President Trump and U.S. military and diplomatic officials as they seek a ceasefire in Ukraine.

Pray for AMERICA’S RELATIONSHIP WITH ISRAEL

U.S. Envoy to Syria Tom Barrack is chairing a meeting this week between Israel and Syria. The two nations engaged in conflict last week when Israel bombed a Syrian convoy of army tanks headed to Suwayda after violence broke out between Druze militia and armed Bedouin tribesmen. Israel conducted air strikes on Damascus the next day over the presence of military forces in southern Syria. The meeting is expected to address security issues and Israel’s aggressive policies.

Pray for Envoy Barrack to receive God’s wisdom and guidance as he presides over the security meeting between Israel and Syria.

Pray for AMERICA’S HEALTH AND WELL-BEING

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration are conducting an investigation into an outbreak of Salmonella related to frozen sprouted beans. Eleven people in 10 states have reportedly become ill from the products, which date back to October 2024. There have been no fatalities, but the sprouted beans are under recall.

Pray for FDA Commissioner Makary and CDC Deputy Director Houry to be led by the Lord as they oversee food safety and public health concerns.

Pray for Needs Across the States

Texas officials confirmed over the weekend that only three people remain missing after historic flooding hit the state’s Hill Country region earlier this month. The city of Kerrville expressed gratitude to more than 1,000 local, state, and federal authorities, stating, “Thanks to their extraordinary efforts, the number of individuals previously listed as missing has dropped from over 160 to three.” There were also four people still reportedly missing from other counties.

A county judge in Ohio issued a temporary restraining order to allow nurse practitioners and midwives to distribute abortion drugs via telemedicine. This is the third time the judge has blocked the state law that requires in-person visits and examinations by a physician for mifepristone prescriptions.

Pray for state and local officials as they address emergency situations and concerns that their residents face.

Pray for America’s Faith Community

The local folk knew Jesus well. He was the best carpenter in the nation. But now He had stepped out of bounds. He accepted the nomination of that wild preacher John the Baptist as the Lamb of God. He had agreed to let the people mount Him on an ass and enter the city amid cries of ‘Hosanna.‘ Now He had stirred the city by routing the moneychangers and cattle dealers from the temple. For almost thirty years He had watched men desecrate the place. He was outraged at their insolence and greed. He was disgusted that they had carpeted the temple courts with animal excrement and polluted the place with the stench of urine.
Each of the Gospels tells of the whipping Christ. But Luke makes a very valuable difference as he records the events in the life of Jesus. He says that before Jesus had entered the temple, while He was still entering Jerusalem, He had stopped to weep over the great city. So we have the weeping Christ before we had the whipping Christ. Since He was about His Father’s business at twelve years of age, Jesus had trod the temple courts and had always been grieved and outraged that they were defiled not just with animal dung, but with red-eyed extortioners, cheating moneychangers, and cattle dealers. For thirty years, He had been growing in grace and in the knowledge of His Father – now He knew His mission! And His explanation for this one-man attack on the sacrilege and defilement of the house of God is summed up in these words: ‘Zeal for thy house will consume me.‘”  Revival Thoughts with Leonard Ravenhill, Cleansing the Temple, July 2025
