Praying for Our Leaders in Government
Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration
White House Border Czar Tom Homan reported that 10,000 of the 300,000 migrant children who were unaccounted for during the previous administration have been located by the Department of Homeland Security. Mr. Homan said, “This should be a nonpartisan issue. Arresting public safety threats and national security threats, everybody should be on same page on that. Rescuing children, I mean, it should be a nonpartisan issue.“
Pray for DHS, ICE, and CBP officials as they seek to rescue migrant children, who have been trafficked and exploited, as they pursue and arrest the perpetrators.
Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress
Representative Kat Cammack of Florida introduced a resolution that would require the U.S. Capitol Police to run background checks on congressional staffers. “I think the American people deserve to know who’s working on their behalf,” the congresswoman said. The measure has faced bipartisan opposition, which, Representative Cammack said, “speaks to all the more reason why we need to have these background checks in place. Why would you not want to know who is working in your office?”
Pray for members of Congress as they face increased safety threats on Capitol Hill.
PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES
The House Judiciary Committee, chaired by Representative Jim Jordan of Ohio, alleged that President Biden’s administration allotted grant funding to non-governmental organizations that sought to undermine Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. “Documents obtained during this investigation suggest that the Biden-Harris administration potentially funded groups with ties to U.S.-designated terrorist organizations,” the committee stated. “Oversight conducted by the Committee reflects the Biden-Harris Administration’s neglect and misuse of taxpayer dollars through USAID, the State Department, and other federal agencies, which were used to directly and indirectly fund the efforts of anti-Netanyahu organizations and terrorist groups.“
Pray for members of the congressional committees as they seek to ensure the transparency of taxpayer-funded grant awards.
Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges
The Fourth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals recently upheld West Virginia’s state law that bans the abortion drug mifepristone. A generic manufacturer of the drug had sought to require federal regulation of the prescription abortifacient under the Food and Drug Administration’s approval. The appellate court stated that federal law creates a “floor, not a ceiling“ and that “preemption in this instance would upend the federal-state balance by supplanting every state law tangentially touching a federal domain.”
Pray for federal judges as they consider the federal and state government balance under the Federal Republic framework of the U.S. Constitution.
