Praying for Our Leaders in Government
Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration
President Donald Trump’s administration announced the phasing out of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requirement that airline travelers remove their shoes at security checkpoints. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced the new policy on Tuesday, saying that President Trump pledged to make life better for all Americans, “including travelers who are going through our busy airports.”
Pray for Deputy Administrator McNeill and TSA officials as they assess the components necessary for air travel screening.
Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress
Senators Tina Smith of Minnesota, Mike Rounds of South Dakota, Mike Crapo of Idaho, and Jack Reed of Rhode Island introduced legislation to update federal regulations regarding homeless programs. The measure seeks to “reduce administrative burdens within the Continuum of Care, Emergency Solutions Grants, and Housing Choice Voucher programs, while improving coordination” with the private sector.
Pray for senators as they consider reducing regulations to improve housing programs for the homeless.
PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES
The Senate Banking Committee, chaired by Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina, held a hearing entitled “From Wall Street to Web3: Building Tomorrow’s Digital Asset Markets” this week. The committee’s Subcommittee on Digital Assets recently released rules to develop crypto legislation. The digital asset industry has faced limits on innovation due to fragmented federal regulations.
Pray for members of the banking committee to be discerning regarding the regulation of cryptocurrency.
Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges
The justices of the Supreme Court turned down a challenge to a Montana state supreme court decision that struck down a state law requiring parental consent for minors to undergo abortion procedures. Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito explained the rejection was based on technicalities, stating the case “provides a poor vehicle for deciding that question. It is therefore especially important that the denial of review is not read by interested parties or other courts as a rejection of the argument that the petition asks us to decide.”
Pray for wisdom for the justices of the Supreme Court as they consider cases to accept for the fall term.
