Issue 706 – Federal Branches

Praying for Our Leaders in Government

Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Department of Defense Cyber Crime Center (DC3), and the National Security Agency (NSA) published “Iranian Cyber Actors May Target Vulnerable US Networks and Entities of Interest” this week. The joint alert stated, “Defense Industrial Base companies, particularly those possessing holdings or relationships with Israeli research and defense firms, are at increased risk.“ CISA said it “urges owners and operators of critical infrastructure organizations and other potentially targeted entities to review this fact sheet to learn more about the Iranian state-backed cyber threat and actionable mitigations to harden cyber defenses.“

Pray for U.S. intelligence, cybersecurity, and infrastructure security officials to be successful in their efforts to thwart cyber attacks from hostile nations.

Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress

Representative Brandon Gill of Texas introduced legislation that would prohibit abortionists from dumping the remains of unborn babies into public water systems. While some states regulate the disposal of aborted babies, many do not. “Every life is precious and has value, from the moment of conception until natural death,” Congressman Gill stated. “Not only does abortion rob an unborn baby of their life, but abortionists further rob them of a dignified burial by carelessly discarding their fetal remains into public water systems — a disgusting and abhorrent practice.”

Pray for representatives in the House to be discerning as they consider the bill to stop the disposal of babies into public water systems. Pray for members of Congress to recognize the sanctity of human life, made in God’s image.

PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES

The Senate Judiciary Committee, chaired by Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa, unanimously advanced legislation last month to stop child sexual abuse material (CSAM) from being published online. Chairman Grassley said the act “takes direct aim at the terrible spread of online child sexual abuse material – and gives law enforcement and victims stronger tools to fight back.“

Pray for members of congressional committees as they consider bills and acts that criminalize harmful and damaging online activity.

Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges

The Supreme Court, in the final week of June, released a decision that overturned district and circuit court rulings that determined the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force was unconstitutional. The majority of justices found that, since members of the task force may be removed by the Health and Human Services Secretary, and their recommendations are reviewable by the HHS secretary, it is not subject to the Appointments Clause of the Constitution, and therefore not subject to U.S. Senate confirmation.

Pray for the justices of the Supreme Court as they choose cases to hear in the fall term during the summer recess. Pray for federal judges who continue to hear and rule on constitutional challenges.
