Praying for Our Leaders in Government
Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) estimate that over a million immigrants have self-deported since the rebranding of the Customs and Border Protection app from CBP One to CBP Home. The program provides $1,000 to illegal aliens who voluntarily return to their countries of origin, which is a significant savings to taxpayers over the estimated $17,100 for the traditional ICE deportation process of a single individual.
Pray for President Trump, Secretary Noem, Acting ICE Director Lyons, and Border Czar Homan as they seek to increase national security through immigration enforcement.
Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress
Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa provided emails from the FBI under President Biden’s administration that he received from a whistleblower showing how agents sought to target President Trump for prosecution. Senator Grassley stated, “Partisan prosecutors and agents were surfing the web to find any shred of information they could use to spin another baseless case against Trump.” He said more information would be released in the future.
Pray for senators and representatives as they seek to ensure federal law enforcement investigates crimes to uphold the law rather than for political reasons.
PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES
The House Committee on Oversight and Accountability recently found that thousands of federal employees spent hundreds of thousands of hours doing labor union work on government time in 2023. Some employees even spent 100 percent of their working hours on this “official time” for unions, which cost American taxpayers tens of millions of dollars. This year, Senators Mike Lee of Utah and Representative Ben Cline of Virginia introduced No Union Time in the Taxpayers’ Dime Act and Senator Joni Ernst of Iowa introduced the Protecting Taxpayers’ Wallet Act to address this issue.
Pray for congressional committee chairs and members as they consider the legislation that would stop federal employees from working for their unions instead of fulfilling their government roles.
Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges
A panel of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a ruling from a lower court that determined a California gun rationing law is an unconstitutional infringement of the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms. The state law sought to limit gun owners to possession of a single firearm. Judge Danielle Jo Forrest stated the law was “facially unconstitutional because the plain text of the Second Amendment protects the possession of multiple firearms and protects against meaningful constraints on the acquisition of firearms through purchase.”
Pray for federal judges as they hear lawsuits and issue rulings related to constitutional protections of citizens’ rights.
